‘One day can change your whole life’ is the mantra of Global Wellness Day, a not-for-profit awareness event that will be celebrated in 130 countries and 5,000 different locations on 8th June. Global Wellness Day encourages everyone it reaches to take a more positive and mindful approach to life, with limiting single-use plastics and supporting charities among its key goals. Dedicated to sustainable practices and highly personal service, The Red Carnation Hotel Collection shares a similar vision. All of our hotels, including Xigera Safari Lodge, which is being built in the wilds of Botswana, feature designs that are conducive to the local ecosystems. Enjoy the finest produce, thought-provoking talks and discussions, invigorating activities, and more, when you stay with Red Carnation Hotels. In celebration of Global Wellness Day, we are proud to highlight the exceptional services that our guests can experience year-round.

Outstanding cuisine

Nourishing the body with sustainably-sourced food is an important aspect of living more holistically. In Dorset, Chef Steven Titman infuses ingredients from Summer Lodge Country House Hotel and Restaurant kitchen gardens into his exquisite gastronomy at The Restaurant, along with superb produce from local suppliers. Vegans visiting London can feast on The Chesterfield Mayfair’s exciting new plant-based dishes, created by our Executive Head Chef. Tuck into a satisfying cauliflower steak or a delicious vegan dhal with coriander, green chilli and wild black rice.

Sumptuous spas

Global Wellness Day is all about reducing stress levels and quiet contemplation is essential to achieving this. Dedicate time to relax with a visit to a Red Carnation Hotels’ spa. Those seeking nirvana in South Africa will find Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat’s spa both peaceful and picturesque. Savour a massage in the Riverside Gazebo to the gentle sound of the Boontjes River or kick back in the Crystal Steam Room. For a post-treatment pick-me-up, the Health Bar serves freshly squeezed fruit juices.

Inspiring activities

Keeping active and exploring the great outdoors is easy when you stay at a Red Carnation Hotel. Sprawled across a leafy 350-acre estate, Ashford Castle offers a wonderous trove of activities, from scenic hikes and mountain bike rides to kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and more. Alternatively, join in a rewarding beach clean-up and help to protect Florida’s aquatic life when staying at The Chesterfield Palm Beach.

The fantastic Summer of Culture experiences taking place across our London hotels this summer are designed to stretch and enrich the mind. In association with the V&A and the museum’s latest exhibition, FOOD: Bigger Than the Plate, The Egerton House Hotel will host an evening focusing on the impact of food waste. Learn about the art of Japanese wrapping at The Rubens at the Palace with Japan House or enjoy a space-themed afternoon tea at The Milestone Hotel & Residences, in partnership with the Design Museum’s fascinating Mars exhibition. Meanwhile, keen art enthusiasts can attend Summer Lodge’s captivating art history talks, led by art historian Jennie Spiers.

Supporting charitable causes

Giving back and helping others is another integral element of Global Wellness Day, with its diverse events, including delivering medical aid to children at the Thailand and Myanmar border and visiting elderly people’s homes in Brazil. A proud member of The Travel Corporation (TTC) and a committed partner of the TreadRight Foundation, The Red Carnation Hotel Collection supports charities and worldwide communities, too. TreadRight has supported more than 50 sustainable tourism initiatives to date, including Pack for a Purpose. This project asks holidaymakers heading to Bushmans Kloof, The Twelve Apostles or The Oyster Box to pack much-needed school supplies, games and toys in their suitcases, which have a big impact on the lives of children around the world.
