The site The Chesterfield Mayfair inhabits once formed part of the grounds of a much earlier house, constructed in 1660 by Lord Berkley. This house was originally named Berkley House and was built soon after the Restoration of the Monarchy.
Red Carnation’s first hotel, located in the heart of Mayfair, is quintessentially British and exudes classic charm and unique personality. Renowned for the best Dover sole in London, themed Afternoon Teas, molecular cocktails and gin tasting experiences, we are ideally located, moments from Bond Street, Piccadilly and the Royal Parks.
Led by General Manager Adam Lake, with 24 years of service, our team is made up of a family of passionate people, with each staff member being committed to giving their very best. We are proud to be a part of the family-owned and run Red Carnation Hotel Collection and our warm, inclusive ethos embraces every aspect of our guests’ experiences.
We are honoured that our guests choose to stay with us again and again. Every one of our team offers remarkably considerate service and discrete attention to detail. From freshly-cut flowers in the suites to personalised gifts for special occasions, it is no surprise that guests often remember the names of our staff and ask after them when they return.
We pride ourselves on our local relationships, and carefully design remarkable experiences for guests. Our in-house whisky tasting is a gleeful gallop around the globe led by our expert mixologist, either in the elegant Terrace Bar or in the intimate surroundings of the book-lined library. Or take a fascinating insider’s tour of Burlington Arcade, London’s original shopping venue dating back to 1819, guided by the Beadles, the oldest and smallest police force in the world.
Exhale and relax after a busy day of exploring London in the warm, intimate surrounds of Butlers Restaurant. Renowned for serving London’s best Dover sole, filleted right at your table, our Executive Chef Nathan Hindmarsh offers an enticing range of delicious dishes that make the most of organic, seasonal British ingredients – from salmon smoked by H.Forman & Son, London’s oldest smokery, and classics such as roasted Orkney scallops and venison Wellington, to our famous signature dishes.
"Welcome to The Chesterfield Mayfair, where it has been my honour to lead the team as General Manager for the past seven years. I believe that Mayfair is a village within our great city of London, and the spirit of local community cannot be matched elsewhere in the capital.
We are surrounded by some of the most famous streets in London, including Oxford Street, Park Lane and Bond Street. We have many green spaces on our doorstep, from Berkeley Square to Green Park, and we are spoiled for choice with the many restaurants and bars around us – from high-end to hidden gems and traditional pubs.
We are proud of the exceptional experiences we have carefully curated over the years. Our whimsical Sweetshop Afternoon Tea is a treat for adults and children alike, while our Terrace Bar is the heart of the hotel, filled with live music every evening.
As a team, we have worked hard to remove single-use plastics, reduce food waste, and focus on renewable energy sources. Each year, our team members take two paid volunteer days supporting local charities such as The Springboard Charity and Action Against Hunger.
We are a passionate and dedicated team who are committed to delivering the very best experience for our guests. I am proud to have worked for The Red Carnation Hotel Collection for the past 15 years, and I look forward to welcoming many more guests to our beautiful hotel in the future."
